Methodology

  • Revenue impact per hour = monthly revenue × website-dependent revenue percentage ÷ monthly operating hours.
  • Lead impact per hour = monthly leads ÷ monthly operating hours × lead conversion rate × average sale value × website-dependent revenue percentage.
  • Productivity impact per hour = affected employees × hourly employee cost × productivity lost percentage.
  • The direct hourly estimate is the sum of those three values; each outage scenario multiplies it by its duration.
  • The displayed low and high values use a ±25% uncertainty band and do not include indirect or reputational effects.

Limitations

  • Does not predict actual outage duration, recovery time, or customer behavior.
  • May double count value when lead value is already included in reported revenue.
  • Excludes reputational harm, contractual penalties, advertising waste, and long-term search effects.
  • Not financial, accounting, insurance, or legal advice.

Why does the calculator show a range? +
Outage impact depends on timing, customer behavior, and how quickly a site recovers. The range applies a ±25% uncertainty band to the direct estimate.
Should I include monthly revenue and lead value? +
Yes, when both reflect separate value streams. If leads eventually become the same revenue already counted, set one stream to zero to avoid double counting.
Does this calculate reputational damage? +
No. Reputation and lost future business vary too much to assign a credible universal value.
Are my inputs sent to Rescue404? +
No. Calculations run in your browser. Rescue404 does not receive these assumptions unless you choose to share them separately.
Can a care plan guarantee no downtime? +
